Watership down

A little while ago a friend and I were talking about books we both liked and what they meant to as on a personal level, she started to tell me about Watership Down. It was written by Richard Adams and was first published by Rex Collins, Ltd in 1972. Born in Berkshire, England in 1920, and studied history Bradfield and Worcester College, Oxford. He wrote nineteen books and this was his first one, initially he would tell the story to his daughters, and once they grew up they encouraged him to write it down. It is a sorrowful, optimistic story that makes you believe that there is something that can be done even on the most adverse of circumstances.
The writer often gives the rabbits human qualities which helps the reader understand what the story is all about. Given the all the obstacles that the main characters must go through you can’t help but to root for them. Some of the words that would describe this story are home, nature, leadership, adapting, humanity, and trickery. I think that this book should be a require reading in schools because it teaches a lot of great values we sometimes lack or forget about.
