My World

My World
our lives are filed wit adventures an experiences
some good, some bad
some great, some not so much
some are out of this world
and some just plain awful

some of those experiences while sad
do some great and unsuspected
consequences that will be felt
for the rest of our lives

some might even be pretty cool

and funny

but the ones that will never leave my my
mind

are the ones that have brought
meaning
happiness
and joy
to my  life

this is
has being
and will always
be \

Watership down

A little while ago a friend and I were talking about books we both liked and what they meant to as on a personal level, she started to tell me about Watership Down. It was written by Richard Adams and was first published by Rex Collins, Ltd in 1972. Born in Berkshire, England in 1920, and studied history Bradfield and Worcester College, Oxford. He wrote nineteen books and this was his first one, initially he would tell the story to his daughters, and once they grew up they encouraged him to write it down. It is a sorrowful, optimistic story that makes you believe that there is something that can be done even on the most adverse of circumstances.
The writer often gives the rabbits human qualities which helps the reader understand what the story is all about. Given the all the obstacles that the main characters must go through you can’t help but to root for them. Some of the words that would describe this story are home, nature, leadership, adapting, humanity, and trickery. I think that this book should be a require reading in schools because it teaches a lot of great values we sometimes lack or forget about.

The Giver

This was a good quick read. I was amazed at how the writer took us into a futuristic utopia where all decisions were made by the towns elders and none by the people who lived there, things that we in our society take for granted, things like what to wear, what to eat, when to start to ride a bike or who to marry were not available to them. The main character Jonas is about to experience the biggest in his life, he would be turning twelve years old but he would also be assigned his future job with in the community,  he was chosen to become the new receiver

My Mind

What's in my Mind

Being a divorced father of three young boys I have come to a conclusion,   that as a kid i put my mom through hell a few times and I am really sorry about that, and second that i don't want my ex wife to go through some of the same things, I have served my country for the majority of my adult life and as far a i can remember there has always been someone in my family serving our country at any one time. I am proud to have follow on that tradition, now that I am getting older and hopefully wiser I don't think that i would want any of my boys to join the military, there are different ways to serve our great country and i wish they would choose one of those instead, maybe I'm getting soft in my old age  but i just can't stand so see my kids in danger.
